This is the place to if you want to build your own lightweight, high performance wooden white water kayak. Wood is the perfect material for home building as its easy to work with. The kayaks are designed to be built at home using the stitch-and-glue method which is DIY friendly as it requires no moulds, steaming or formers.
Please note that the build plans are still under development. If you’re interested in building a kayak using my plans than please see the buying options below and tell me which buying option you’d consider in the contact form.
Buying options:
- Wooden parts (approx. 600 GBP)
- I can cut the parts for you (UK & EU only) saving you time and effort.
- DXF file for the CNC (approx 100 GBP)
- With this file you can have the parts CNC cut at your local CNC business or with your own machine
- This is a personal license to use the dxf file to cut parts to build 1 kayak. This cannot be shared or used for commercial purposes.
- For a commercial license please get in touch.
- Pdf drawings (approx 80 GBP) – with these drawings you can cut the wooden parts yourself.
- Pdf build manual (25 gbp)- detailed build instructions guiding you every step of the way with pictures and handy tips. This comes included with the wooden parts and DXF file options
Material list and total cost
In addition to the plans there is a list of other materials that are needed to create the kayak like: two 3mm marine grade plywood sheets – approx 4-6kg epoxy, glass fibre cloth and other reinforcement cloths – consumables like gloves, brushes and rollers – outfitting parts like foam, backrest and clam cleats. In the UK this will amount to approximately 900-1200 GBP depending on the size of the kayak and reinforcements you choose (advice on which reinforcements to choose is in the build manual). This will be different in each country. A material list will be available for each kayak when they finish development.
